The Mission Control ground station contains everything necessary to plan, execute and monitor flights: power supply, mission planning, flight controls, telemetry, video links and antennae are all integrated into a single ruggedised package.

In addition to the 12.3” QHD screen provided by the Surface Pro 4 tablet, the Mission Control ground station offers a 13” FHD monitor which may be used either to display video from payload or FPV cameras, or as additional desktop real estate

You Have Control

Manage the ground station control features seamlessly and easily from the proprietary Aeronavics ground station setup software; choose what switches, joysticks and control inputs interact with the craft and payload.  Fly fully autonomous flights right off the Surface Pro tablet or manually control some or all of the flight and payload functions.

Integrated Surface Pro

The integrated dock for a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet offers flexibility in how you perform flight operations.  Access your email and other office applications from the same device you pilot from.

Mission Planning and Logging

Remove the tablet, set up your flight plan the night before, then reconnect to the ground station to upload to your aircraft.  Use the Surface Pen for precise placement of waypoints.

Perform Pre and Post flight checks and log flights supported with custom apps provided with the Surface Pro. Advanced battery management and logging tools are also included, as well as fleet management tools for multiple craft / user operating teams.

Single or Dual Operation

For operators who require a dual control setup, the payload operator may operate a gimbal and watch live downlinked video, while the pilot is free to move around using a wireless hand controller.  In single operator configurations, switch between flight and payload controls with one button-press.

Hand Controller (Single Operator)

With long range FHSS 433MHz control and telemetry link.

This option simply provides a radio controller to fly the aircraft where you need it. Connect a laptop or tablet computer with flight planning software via Bluetooth for automatic GPS waypoint flight planning, and to view flight telemetry via the standard 16kb/s data link.

Optional upgrades:

  1. Include a fully configured Surface Pro tablet computer for flight planning.
  2. Upgrade to 18ch hand controller with colour LCD display.
  3. Add 7” standard definition monitor and SD video receiver.

This option takes your operation to the next level, by replacing the handheld controller with a fully self-contained ruggedized plastic case, integrating flight controls, telemetry link, monitor with SD video link, and fully configured Surface Pro tablet computer.   This feature set makes it perfect for professional mapping and survey operations.

Advanced Ground Station (Single or Dual Operator)

An advanced ground station introducing high definition video capabilities.

This option is our recommended configuration for professional inspection operators: the addition of a high definition digital video link with up to 1000m range, and ability to connect an optional hand controller allows for a two person team to perform asset inspections safely and efficiently.

‘Dual Operator’ Upgrade for Advanced Ground Stations

In the Dual Operator set-up, the operating team consists of a pilot navigating the aircraft, whilst a payload operator controls the camera package. This is a typical setup for professional filming, or high value asset inspection scenarios. The pilot navigates the aircraft with a hand controller, with an integrated 7” monitor to provide a view from the so-called FPV (first person view) camera mounted on the front of the aircraft. This ensures the pilot always has a forward facing view to assist in correctly positioning the aircraft, while the payload operator is able to freely direct the sensor package to obtain the required imagery.

Premium Advanced Ground Station (Single or Dual Operator)

Fully featured solution for planning and executing complex, high performance flight operations.

The Premium Advanced Ground Station allows you to extract the most from your Aeronavics aircraft. Support for RTK GPS allows for accurate positioning and improved photogrammetry performance.   A high speed telemetry link offers telemetry and data communications with the aircraft at speeds of up to 150Mb/s, and unlocks support for advanced payload modules such as radiometric thermal cameras and LiDAR. And the high spec Surface Pro 4 tablet means you can leave your old laptop behind.
